Acadiana Proud, Acadiana Strong

If you like all of these great freebies and deals, make sure you sign up for my newsletter.

I live in Lafayette, Louisiana.  The last few days have been emotionally charged for me and my community.  The other night my husband wanted to go to the movies at The Grand but I wasn't feeling up to it.  My son and his girlfriend were headed to the movies and showed up right after the shooting.  Thankfully, everyone in my family was safe.  Unfortunately though, not everyone in our community was so lucky.  Everyone here knows someone that was there.

Yes, I live in Lafayette, Louisiana.  And I'm thankful on so many fronts for this.  Cajuns are some of the most amazing people.  We are resilient.  We are loving.  We are full of life.  We take care of each other.  Lafayette has won many accolades, including the Happiest City in America.

Yes, I live in Louisiana.  What the shooter didn't realize before he started his evil rampage was that we are one big family here in Acadiana.  We will do whatever we can to stop someone from hurting our family.  Instead of people just running out the doors, people ran but they ran toward the shooter to stop him.  We know of at least one person who jumped in front of a bullet meant for someone else.  We have teachers that are heroes.  People helped each other out of the theater.  They didn't trample each other.

Yes, I live in Acadiana.  We have been through tragedies and disasters.  However, our disasters are usually natural or the result of an accident.  We have survived and have become a better community after each event.  This time will be no different.  We have already closed ranks and gotten closer. We will protect the families of those that were lost.  We will protect the survivors and their families.  A church that promotes hate is suppose to picket the funerals of the Mayci Breaux and Jillian Johnson.  They don't know what they are in for.  We will surround their families and block the protesters.

Yes, I live in the Happiest City in America.  This evil act has hurt us but it has also brought us together.  Fear has no place here.  We are not afraid.  Evil has no place here.  The goodness of others is shining through.  We will support each other in the coming days.  We won't let this stop us from loving life.  We will be stronger.  We will continue to smile and be happy.

Yes, I live in the Heart of Cajun Country.  While I didn't grow up here, I've been here for over 25 years.  In my heart, I'm a Cajun.  My husband is a Cajun; my children are Cajuns.  I've never been more proud to live here and to be a part of this community.  Our hearts are strong.  We will celebrate life and the lives of those that were lost.  We will survive and thrive!!  We are Acadiana proud and Acadiana Strong!!
