As you probably know, I love Chicken Soup for the Soul books. They are always full of such wonderful, inspirational stories and devotions. They always fill me with hope and joy.
Well, I am still trying to get caught up in reviewing some of their books. So, here is the next Chicken Soup for the Soul book that I need to review. This isn't one I would have gotten on my own, but ,of course, I have been married for over 20 years now. However, this would be the perfect book if I knew of anyone that was getting married.
Chicken Soup for the Soul: Here Comes the Bride: 101 Stories of Love, Laughter, and Family is by Jack Canfield, Mark Victor Hansen, and Susan M. Heim. It is filled with some wonderful stories. I love hearing (reading) about how people get engaged, wedding planning, and weddings. I guess I'm not the only one with the popularity of all the shows about weddings and wedding planning.
I loved the story "Humoring the Groom". It really reminds me of my husband. I wish I would've thought of doing something like this. Of course, when I got married I didn't realize that my hubby would cry so much. For a moment, I didn't know if he would make it through the ceremony.
Then, of course, there was the story, "It Had to be Perfect". It is a reality check for the "Bridezilla" to be. Everyone dreams of having the perfect wedding, but does that matter in the long run. What matters is being able to spend time with your loved ones. It is sometimes hard to look back at my wedding. We have lost so many friends and family members since then. I am so glad that I have these memories to hold on to.
There are so many great stories. You can search the book to find just the right story for your mood or read it from beginning to end. Here are the section headings:
- The Proposal
- The Ring
- The Dress
- It's All in the Planning
- Meet the Parents
- The Wedding Party
- Marital Mishaps
- Bucking Tradition
- Never Too Late for Love
- The Honeymoon
