As many of you may remember, I was able to go to the American Idol Concert Tour. It was great!! My daughter and I had a wonderful time. What is even better is that my daughter learned something first hand. What did she learn? She learned that she really can not text and drive.
AT&T had a simulator outside of the concert. Like most people, I'm sure she thought it wouldn't make that big a difference if she texted while she was driving. Well, she was sorely mistaken. In the simulator, she had to text a message while driving. She ended up wrecking, speeding, and committed other various driving infractions.
It was neat to see all of the signatures on the card outside. They have a card that you can sign pledging to not Text & Drive. My daughter and I both signed. I think, she might actually follow through with this pledge, after driving in the simulator. Nothing is that important to where you need to text and drive. If it is something really important, pull over and park your car before texting.
I really wish that this simulator was made available to every high school. I think that if all teenagers were able to drive in this simulator, they might not text and drive.
If the American Idol Concert Tour comes anywhere near you, you really need to go check out the simulator, and take your children. It doesn't matter if you have tickets or not to the concert. The simulator is outside. Anyone can do the simulator. It may change your life, or save your child's life. I am not being over dramatic either. You can check out some of the videos and statistics that I posted in my earlier post.
